Ramen Zundo, World Square - Sydney CBD

I don't think it's fair to skip this one.

With the ramen craze in Sydney nowadays, I don't think it's fair to exclude Ramen Zundo. I know I've posted so many (maybe too many?) ramen places reviews recently, but just bear with me, OK? I think you'll love this one.

Ramen Zundo is nested on an alley of World Square, competing with many other restaurants around. It is one of my favourites, though, thanks to its great ramen and student-friendly price. From what I heard, it's been a favourite among lots of students, who crave for a good, ramen feed during lunch break instead of boring uni's food court food.

The entry isn't that difficult to find, although the signage is a bit small. There's a menu board pasted on the window, so you can decide what to order before you join the queue on the counter/cashier.

The interior isn't particularly spacious, but designed really nicely to radiate elegant, homey feeling.  It has some Japanese feel on the decorations, and although there are not that many tables, they are arranged neatly.

I love the corner seating with wall-couches on one side, so comfy and perfect for couples.

If you want to get straight to the point, go for Zundo White. The original one with milky tonkotsu soup, no more no less. The noodles are thin, and there are good amount of beansprouts, cabbage, scallions, and few sheets of nori. The broth is rich but not too heavy on the collagen, so you will get no oily & sticky feeling lingering after a few slurps.

And of course, the glorious pork belly. Just can't get enough of that, can we?

The ramen bowls don't come with tamago or seasoned egg here, so I ordered one for good measure.

My Zundo Black is more interesting. It's the same tonkotsu broth, the same noodles and all sorts of toppings, but the baked garlic oil adds another level of awesomeness. The garlic oil and the flecks are vivid enough to be tasted through the bowl without being overwhelmed or overwhelming the others.

And the egg does wonders. I would prefer if it has more flavour, but gooey yolk makes me happy.

The noodles are cooked very well. I don't remember if we were asked about our preference of the noodles' hardness, but what came to our table was perfect.

I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself, but the pork belly is pretty much heavenly. Like, melt-in-your-mouth heavenly.

I just gotta say, thank God for these cheap ramen places nearby uni. Can't get enough ramen in Sydney, can we?

P.S. Check Ramen Raff's post about Zundo's handsome-looking tsukemen!
